Significant Differences
Both of the table saws are similar when it comes to significant characteristics. However, there is a difference between the instruments, which influence the performance.
Both table saws use carbide blades of the same series. Along with the same number of teeth. However, the diameters of the element are different. The DW745 comes with a 10-inch blade. DWE7480 uses an 8 ¼ -inch disk.

Feature Comparison
Both of these saws are different in their own way. We’re going to do an in-depth comparison based on the features below.
Power
The DWE7480 is more powerful than the other table saw. They both have the same motors, 15 Amps. However, the difference between them is their rotations per minute (RPM).
The DWE7480 has a motor with a no-load speed of 4,800 RPM. On the one hand, the DW745 is at 3,850 RPM. The reason for the two saws having a significant difference in RPM has to do with the overall size.
Not to mention, the rip capacity is different between the two. The DWE7480 has a larger rip capacity at 24 ½ inches. This goes hand in hand with the no-load speed for bigger projects. The latter saw has a 20 inch capacity. The smaller capacity of the DW745 will struggle with thicker and tougher sheets of material.
Price
For the functionalities that both of these table top saws offer, they’re both decently priced. However, DWE7480 is a little more expensive. Due to its size and power, it’s understandable why DWE7480 has a higher price tage.
The design of the DWE7480 is for bigger projects. The bigger the project means the more size and power the saw requires. That’s why this saw has greater power, a little heavier and a little bit bigger than the DW745.
The DW745 has a limited power capability since the aim of this product was for the use on smaller projects.
Portability
If you’re looking for a new hobby or you’re more of a DIY kind of person, the DW745 is the better choice. Its slightly lower price, smaller size, and ease of convenience makes it easier to carry around.
This design of the saw is for smaller projects. The DW745 doesn’t require much power and it’s more economical. Additionally, the saw weighs 45 pounds compared to the DWE7480, 48 pounds. Three pounds is a small difference but makes a significant difference when you have to carry it around.
Accessories & Elements
Both of these saws have a 10-inch carbide blade. However, there are some key components that differ between the two.
The DW745 has a T-fence and the DW7480 has a rip fence. The rack and pinion rip fence of the DW745 is steps above the competition. You can extend the fence up to 16 inches for an accurate and customized cutting. The fence is also able to lock into position.
On the other hand, rather than a lock and slide, the DWE7480 has a track system. You can set the fence with a push clamp on either side of the blade. This is convenient for left or right handed cuts. This saw has a support that folds down for wider rips that hang over the base saw. What might catch your eye is the accuracy of the setting you get by turning the knob.
With this table saw you’ll experience a solid fence due to its knob and fence being perfectly square to the blade plane. With the front and back rail that interlocks with the knob, you only need to set the measurement once and start cutting.
The DW745 saw comes with a standard blade guard. The guard is a clear plastic, which maximizes the safety without compromising your sight during cutting. It also comes with an anti-kickback mechanism. This bites the material down on the sides of your cut to prevent any injuries.
Although the DWE7480 has similar safety measures, this unit has a couple of extra attachments: a splitter and riving knife. The standard blade guard has two plastic guards that operate independently. This allows you to cut longer panels, but they also work well as siding. This will help you compensate for board lift or bowing near the table.
Miter Gauge
With the DWE7480 you can angle the blade up to 30 degrees in both directions. Achieve the angled cuts with or without the fence and you can get compound miters by tilting the blade. The saw has a locking dial at the front with a range of -2 to 47 degrees.
The DW745 also comes with a miter gauge. You can set your gauge at the desired angle and attach it on the table for the perfect angle. However, the gauge isn’t known for its quality. It is a little flimsy to use. The miter gauge is an option that comes with the product in case you need it.
Accuracy
The DeWalt DW745 has a 3850 RPM, whereas the DWE7480 has a 4800 RPM. The DWE7480 has a powerful motor power and a greater RPM. This gives greater cutting precision and accuracy compared to the DW745.
